The Thule 964 Revolver bicycle rack addresses one of the major flaws in a hitch mount bike rack design. Normally having the bike on the rear of your SUV style vehicle can create a terrible inconvenience to accessing the rear cargo area. This issue is eliminated with the Thule 964 Revolver design and quite honestly, we would expect nothing less from a company with a reputation like Thule.
The Thule 964 bike rack is capable of carrying four bikes when fully loaded and the Thule T3™ Cradles hold your valuable bicycles firmly in place and provide excellent frame protection and stability. The Thule Patented No-Sway Cage™ will not allow bike to bike contact, which is a great feature if your bikes are your passion and lean to the expensive side. The Thule 964 also features an integrated locking cable that stores conveniently in hitch rack so security will not be an issue.
The Thule 964 is designed for 2" receivers only and you will be pleased to know that the arms fold down and tuck away nicely when not in use. Outside of the outstanding quality that we expect from Thule, the design of this bike allows you to swing the bikes out to the side so you can open your rear cargo hatch. This makes vacations or weekend trips much easier if you often find yourself with your bikes loaded on the back. This may not sound like a big deal, but for someone who has struggled with this, it is an excellent feature.
Superb quality and workmanship throughout, the Thule 964 Revolver is a bike rack that we would recommend to anyone with an SUV style vehicle. It functions flawlessly and the swinging mechanism is easy to operate and works nicely. Check it out below.

I wasn't too happy spending this much money on a bike carrier, but I knew the fold down carriers would be a real pain. I am VERY glad I spent the extra money. Assembly was a breeze and it fits easily onto the hitch of our Toyota Sienna (using a Hidden Hitch). All the mechanisms for folding and extending work great and give us plenty of clearance to access the trunk of the minivan. I also love having the hitch and bike locks integrated. Makes it much easier to manage and I did not need to buy any accessories.
Great carrier for the money and features

This is a great rack if you need access to the rear tailgate. I considered pretty much every rack out there. All of them have tradeoffs. I didn't want to remove a wheel then climb on the roof to mount each bike. I also didn't want to have the bikes in the way when I needed to get something out of the trunk (that happens quite a bit with kids on a roadtrip). I looked at the models that fold down. That's a great idea, unless you have the rack loaded. 4 bikes can be 120 - 140 lbs. That's a little much for some folks to lift up. Besides, just lowering the rack doesn't give great access to the rear since you still have to step around the rack.
On to the Revolver, which is almost perfect. My mountain bike has the cables running under the main tube. That means that I have to put a protective cloth between the cables and the tube or the cables would rub the paint. Obviously that's not Thule's fault. That's it though as far as negatives. It's the best rack I've seen (the Swing Daddy by Yakima seems to be a clone, but it has some issues). The Thule Revolver does everything! It includes the anti sway cages that lock the bikes in place really well. It includes a lock that secures the frame (someone could still steal the wheels so a second lock could be used. It includes an anti-sway hitch pin w/ lock that snugs the mount to the hitch. The swing-away works so easily anyone can use it.
If I didn't need to get into my trunk, if I wanted to remove wheels and mount to the roof, if I wanted my bikes banged up I'd have gone with something else.
Great bike rack

I have been using this rack for about 1 month. The rack was easy to assemble following the detailed instructions Thule provided. It affixes firmly into the hitch receiver and holds the bike securly in place with little or no front to back or side to side sway. As delivered, the two lock cylinders did not match, and the keys only fit one of the cylinders. I called Thule and they sent me a matching cylinder right away. I highly recommend this product.

The Thule 964 is very easy to setup and can accomodate 4 bikes with ease. The swing away rack gives you the ability to move the bikes aside to access the trunk. I would recommend this to anyone.

This is probably the best bike rack made, heavy, secure in the hitch, bikes don't move, it swings out of the way, has it's own two locks, and the bikes don't come in contact with the vehicle.
